A rainy wedding day in Tuscany is often seen as a challenge. This Canadian-Chinese wedding at Borgo della Melianaturned out to be exactly the opposite: one of those days that remind you why flexibility, experience and trust really matter.
The day started quietly with the getting ready followed by one of my favorite moments of the entire wedding: a private vows exchange, just the two of them, away from guests and distractions. It was intimate, emotional, and incredibly honest. The perfect way to begin a wedding day.
When it was time for the ceremony the rain forced us to move to Plan B. The indoor setup was warm, emotional, and full of energy with friends and family completely present and involved. Still, this couple had chosen Italy and Tuscany for one reason above all: to live the day outdoors, surrounded by nature.
Watching the weather closely, we noticed a short break in the rain. I trusted my instinct and asked everyone to follow me uphill for a quick re-arranged ceremony moment. In just a few minutes, we recreated an outdoor exchange and a real confetti exit. No stress, no hesitation, just joy. The couple’s reaction said everything. They were genuinely happy and that moment became one of the highlights of their day.
We also managed to steal a short window for couple portraits, using the soft post-rain light and the calm atmosphere that only a day like this can offer. Proof that even on a rainy wedding day in Tuscany, there is always space for meaningful images if you know when and how to move.
Then came the party — and what a party it was.
Honestly, one of the most incredible wedding celebrations I’ve ever witnessed. Friends performing choreographed dances, the couple moving like professional dancers, spontaneous karaoke then dancing all over again. The energy never dropped for a second.
This was made possible thanks to perfect planning by Chiara from Yes I Do in Tuscany, (who trusted both my choices and my timing throughout the day, thanks Chiara!) and the unstoppable Gaetano Sicari DJ whose music and lighting transformed the night into something truly spectacular.
Rain, Plan B, sudden changes…none of it mattered in the end. What mattered was the atmosphere, the trust and the willingness to live the day fully.
Oh, what a day indeed.
If you’re planning a wedding in Tuscany and want someone who knows how to handle every situation — especially the unexpected ones — this is exactly the kind of experience I bring with me.
