Last summer, I photographed a beautiful and intimate wedding at Villa Cini, a venue that perfectly represents the elegant and authentic side of Tuscany. The day was cloudy, with rain coming and going, the kind of weather that often worries couples but one that fits my photographic style incredibly well.
I remember telling the bride very clearly: do not panic, this is going to be awesome. And it truly was.
We only had to wait a few minutes before the ceremony. The clouds opened just enough to let the sun come through and the ceremony took place outdoors exactly as planned. The light lasted for the perfect amount of time, just the ceremony, and the couple was genuinely happy and relieved. Moments like this are a reminder that weather doesn’t need to be perfect to create something meaningful, sometimes it just needs to cooperate for a few minutes.
For the couple’s photoshoot, I intentionally started indoors. Villa Cini offers beautiful interiors and I wanted to use the rooms, the atmosphere and especially the dramatic light that I love so much.
Rainy days are an opportunity, not a limitation: softer light, deeper tones and a more cinematic mood that adds character and intimacy to the images.
We moved outside for a few minutes, just enough time to create a small series of portraits in the garden. No rush, no pressure, just focusing on the couple and letting the day flow naturally.
It was a real pleasure to witness such an intimate wedding, made even better by an incredible team. Irene from Tuscan Party was, as always, amazing in coordinating everything smoothly and calmly. Working again with my friends at Screenshot Production on video was a joy and Andrea Ribas DJ did a fantastic job setting the mood and taking care of the music throughout the day.
The rain never spoiled the atmosphere, if anything, it made the day even more memorable. This wedding at Villa Cini is a perfect example of why getting married in Tuscany works in every season and in every light, when you trust the process and the people you choose around you.
Cloudy skies, a bit of rain, and a lot of emotion: a great, great, great wedding day.
