Photographing My Friend Giulia’s Wedding (one of the best make-up artist in Italy)

Some weddings feel special from the very beginning.
Others become special while you’re living them.

This one was both.

Giulia is not only an incredibly talented makeup artist I’ve been working with for years, but also a dear friend. When she asked me to photograph her wedding, I felt truly honored. Being trusted with such an important role in the life of someone you care about is something that goes far beyond work.

The day didn’t start in the easiest way—rain was part of the plan, whether we liked it or not. But instead of letting it slow us down or change the mood, we embraced it. No stress, no discouragement. Just trust, patience, and the will to enjoy the day no matter what.

And then, almost unexpectedly, the weather gave us an incredible gift.

At sunset, the rain softened and the light turned into something truly unique deep, warm, and emotional. That kind of light you can’t plan, only receive. Photographing them in that moment felt like a reward for staying present and believing in the day.

Emotionally, it was impossible to stay detached. Seeing them so happy and so in love I found myself getting emotional more than once. It was one of those weddings where you’re not just documenting moments, you’re feeling them.

And then… let’s be honest.
How beautiful are they?

It was a true satisfaction on every level: human, emotional, and professional. A reminder of why I love what I do, and why photographing the weddings of people you care about is something incredibly powerful.

As a bonus we had a special team that day, Alice (the WP that I know from so many years), Veronica (Giulia’s colleague and also a bride from the previous season), Andrea (a great colleague that offered second shooting to live that day all together), Ale (my trusted second shooter and almost a brother), Vittorio and Federica from the catering. It felt special.

A day I’ll carry with me for a long time.
