{"id":4304,"date":"2018-07-06T15:37:57","date_gmt":"2018-07-06T13:37:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mipstudiowedding.com\/?p=4304"},"modified":"2018-08-03T14:47:07","modified_gmt":"2018-08-03T12:47:07","slug":"yrying-my-new-gear-sony-a7iii-zeiss-batis-85mm-samyang-af-35-2-8-dji-spark-drone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mipstudiowedding.com\/index.php\/2018\/07\/06\/yrying-my-new-gear-sony-a7iii-zeiss-batis-85mm-samyang-af-35-2-8-dji-spark-drone\/","title":{"rendered":"Trying my new gear (sony A7III, Zeiss Batis 85mm, Samyang AF 35 2.8, DJI Spark Drone)."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe it wasn\u2019t a smart idea adding some new gear during wedding season but I am always so curious to try new things so I recently bought a Sony A III mirrorless camera, a\u00a0Zeiss Batis 85 mm, a Samyang AF 35 2.8 and a DJI Spark Drone.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I already used them during my latest photoshoots and I was quite happy about them but I did not had the chance to try them without any\u00a0 rush and being able to test them properly.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My friend Giada was asking for pictures so we got the chance to do both things, try new stuff while shooting some nice pictures.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s start with the new Sony mirrorless system:<\/p>\n<p>PROS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>AF is really fast and reliable (at least with my own 2 lens), it\u2019s a joy to use it,<\/li>\n<li>Eye af is a great tool too but It\u2019s not always dead on but it\u2019s a good feature overall<\/li>\n<li>The viewfinder is good (I found no lag) and quite bright.<\/li>\n<li>Battery life is very good<\/li>\n<li>double SD card slot\u00a0 (a pro feature I need on my gear )<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CONS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ergonomics. I had to use a battery grip\u00a0even if I have very small hands<\/li>\n<li>No upper display (I find it useful on my nikon gear)<\/li>\n<li>too slow from turning on the camera and being able to focus<\/li>\n<li>focus point are marked in grey, it\u2019s hard to see them while shooting<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It\u2019s not a cons but, so far, I am not in love with the raw files. I found a greenish cast over the images (mostly with Batis) , they are very good anyway but I found just a little difference with Nikon D750 files (a camera from 4 years ago).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ZEISS BATIS 85 MM 1.8<\/p>\n<p>PROS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>very very very very very sharp even wide open.<\/li>\n<li>nice bokeh<\/li>\n<li>very fast AF<\/li>\n<li>very good flare resistance<\/li>\n<li>weather sealing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CONS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Very cold skin tones (IMHO)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>SAMYANG AF 35MM 2.8<\/p>\n<p>PROS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sharp wide open<\/li>\n<li>extremely lightweight and compact<\/li>\n<li>Optical quality<\/li>\n<li>one of the cheapest lens for sony e-mount<\/li>\n<li>decent AF<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CONS:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>flare could be a problem<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>just some pictures from yesterday\u2019s shooting<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style
