Photo of the day – 20/06/19

I do like taking nice couple pictures, pictures looking like cinematographic frames or crazy light situation to put my couples in. But we must never forget what a wedding day is about. It’s about love and love can be also a tiny hand looking for the safety of his dad’s hand. that’s love, that’s why I love the small details or gestures, that’s why I am there.

Japanese traditions in Certaldo, Tuscany. Hana & Matthias wedding in Tuscany

I had a very good start this season, a lot of spring weddings and some surprises! One of the surprise was Hanna & Matthias hiring me also for their civil wedding in Certaldo and, on top, the AMAZING traditional japanese wedding dress that Hana was wearing. It’s a family Kimono (5 generations got married with that dress) and she was simply stunning with her traditional dress and hair! fun fact: there’s an original Japanese house of…

Engagement at Villa Caruso, Alessia & Tommaso

I love when the couple ask also for Elopement session, it helps a lot to break the ice for the wedding day (a post about it will follow in the next days, stay tuned) so I was glad that Alessia & Tommaso also agreed to shot their engagement pictures.   Alessia told me that she’s shy, that she won’t be comfortable in front of a camera and that she usually does not likes her pictures…..well,…

Beauty, Lights and a little bit of Sci-Fi mood. Studio portrait session.

Not a wedding. definitely not a wedding this time 🙂   I wanted to try a couple of new tricks with lights so I asked my beautiful friend Costanza to join me for a couple of hours at my studio and we came out with these images, I hope you like them as much as we enjoyed having them!

Honeymoon shooting at dawn in Florence, Michelle & Brendan

I guess I told you already on some previous post that I love shooting at dawn in Florence, you can enjoy one of the most amazing place on Earth in, almost, silence with no people around.  Walking alone between statues, ancient buildings and iconic places like the ones in Florence is something that everybody should try once in a lifetime. Michelle & Brendan, a couple from Singapore that chose Florence for their honeymoon, asked me…

a quick and improvised portrait session at my Studio

February, time to try something new, buying new toys for my work and mostly time to have some fun in relax. 2 days ago I received my new beauty dish and I wanted to try some quick portrait so I called my friend Vidhya to check if she was available for a 30 minutes session and she even brought a friend so we ended having good time and trying some different things.   this is the result,…

A scottish wedding in San Galgano, Tuscany

As you can see from my recent posts the previous wedding season has been a very happy one and it could not have a better ending than this, a very fun scottish wedding with a lovely ceremony in San Galgano Abbey, Tuscany, followed by a great reception and party at Tenuta di Papena . I was pretty excited when I knew that Ashleigh and Maurice chose me as their wedding photographer since I never had the chance to…

Ylenia & Andrea: an emotional wedding in Tuscany

I like first times.  It’s always a challenge to me. This was the first time I was shooting a fellow wedding photographer getting married so I had  a lot of responsibilty being chosen from a person that does my same job!   The wedding was held at Villa di Striano, Borgo San Lorenzo (in Mugello area), a wonderful location that I really enjoyed shooting at.   Ylenia and Andrea made everything simple for me since…

Engagement in Florence

I love my city. I think that’s easy to understand since it’s also on my skin. I also love working in Florence so what could be better than an October engagement shooting with the best view over Florence ?   Hazal and Chris are a sweet couple from New York City that I had the chance to portrait before their special day (they chose our  Tuscanywed service), it was very easy for me working with…

Destination wedding in San Galgano

Everyone has his own dream and goals, one of my main one was shooting a wedding in San Galgano abbey and…. it happened 3 times in a row this season. Can you imagine how happy I was ?   Jamie and Shin are a cool and sweet couple from the US that choose me to be their wedding photographer on their special day in Tuscany, I really need to thank them since this was one…

Intimate dutch wedding in Certaldo, Tuscany

Are you looking for a perfect place for an intimate wedding in Tuscany ? Certaldo should be on the top of your list.   Iris & Wouter are a dutch couple that choose Certaldo (old town) as location for their intimate wedding and got married in Santi Tommaso e Prospero church, the oldest church in Certaldo (built during Middle age). They were very happy and moved during the ceremony , it all felt special thanks to the special…

First shooting after the full switch to Sony

After being a Nikon guys for years in august I fully switched to Sony and I didn’t want to shoot a wedding without trying properly all my new gear. What’s better than a shooting in one of my most loved locations with a beautiful girl named Costanza ? I shot with a couple of Sony A7 III, sigma 35 art and zeiss batis 85mm and I could not be happier about the result, even if this was…

Trying my new gear (sony A7III, Zeiss Batis 85mm, Samyang AF 35 2.8, DJI Spark Drone).

Maybe it wasn’t a smart idea adding some new gear during wedding season but I am always so curious to try new things so I recently bought a Sony A III mirrorless camera, a Zeiss Batis 85 mm, a Samyang AF 35 2.8 and a DJI Spark Drone.   I already used them during my latest photoshoots and I was quite happy about them but I did not had the chance to try them without any …

Helicopter flight over Florence

I would have never imagined that being a wedding photographer would have made me fly over my beloved Florence but….. it just happened at Nina and Manuel’s wedding !   I had the chance to fly from Montespertoli (the wedding was held at Borgo Divino), see my home and my studio below me and fly over the most amazing and romantic city in the world, Florence.   I am still amazed about how lucky I…

Engagement in Certaldo A.K.A. working under harsh light

“oh no, light is so hars! would it still be ok for our photoshoot?” Is this something you are worried about ? If so my answer is no, not at all, not for me at least.   Having a soft and diffuesed light is something that a portrait photographer is whishing most of the times and this is something that I also teach to my classes and workshop but ….. who says it will be…

Engagement in an ancient garden

How many cities in the world may offer you an ancient garden for your engagement shooting? Only a few I guess and Florence is amongst them. Boboli Garden is a rare gem that offers a different view on Florence and has a great range of trees, plants, fountains, statues and arts. It used to be the king’s garden when Florence was the capital of Italy about 150 years ago and before that it was one…

Photo of the day

oh what a wonderful experience ! I just came back from a 2 day engagement shooting in Switzerland, between Davos and Zurich, this is the first image that I am publishing, stay tuned for the article 😉

Not only weddings : I just shot the cover for the new Album from Mario Fabiani

Hi Matteo, would you be available to shot my new album’s cover ? How can you I say no to a job involving something new for me ? Impossible!   Mario is a great musician and music producer living near my home here in Tuscany, he’s a great guy and he knew my job since our daughters use to play together a lot. He’s just releasing his new album called Heart and Mind and we…

Engagement at the sea in Tuscany

First engagemen of the season! How cool is finding a couple that follows you into the cold and rain with a big smile on their faces? I could not ask for more to start this 2018 wedding season than working with Elisa and Gianni, a happy couple that will get married in Tuscany in June and choose me as their wedding photograper.   I knew we would have faced the rain but I also know…
